International Musicians Perform At Wired Store In Final Weekend Push For Copenhagen Climate Justice
Assos & Humanitaire

Mark Ronson, Theophilus London, Jamie Burke & Dan Black add their voices to climate justice campaign at NY show produced by THE:HOURS

[NEW YORK, 4 DECEMBER 2009] On the eve of the UN Copenhagen Climate Summit, leading international music artists including Jamie Burke, Mark Ronson, Theophilus London & Dan Black are tonight playing New York's cutting edge WIRED STORE. The show is intended to give one final push to publicize the importance of achieving a global Climate Change deal that is robust, fair and effective.

The concert is in aid of Kofi Annan's ‘Tck Tck Tck: Time for Climate Justice' campaign which was created by Havas Worldwide for the Global Humanitarian Forum. It is urging world leaders to listen to their publics in demanding justice for the world's poor from any post-Kyoto deal. The campaign and its partners have already mobilized more than 10 million global citizens to become climate allies and demand their leaders sign up to a Climate Justice deal in Copenhagen.

Climate justice has, at its heart, the principle that emissions have a price and greenhouse gas emitters must pay. The countries, and peoples, who are suffering the worst impact of climate change - both now and in the future - have done the least to cause it.

All the musicians have already lent their talents to the recording of the soundtrack to the campaign, a re-make of Midnight Oil's 1987 hit ‘Beds Are Burning' featuring over 55 international music stars. It was produced by THE:HOURS and launched in Paris on October 1st as a free download to form the first ever global musical petition. It has already contributed significantly towards achieving over 10 million climate allies.

Dan Black said:
"The Tck Tck Tck campaign is the one of the easiest ways that we can clearly show world leaders meeting at Copenhagen Climate Treaty just how ridiculously important a solid, real, and lasting international agreement on climate is to most people all over the world."

Theophilus London said:
"It's important for everyone to be aware of climate change and the damage it is doing to the world's poor.  I feel very privileged to play a role in publicizing its impact, the issue of our times."

Fabien Moreau (co-Founder of THE:HOURS) said:
"We're very glad to have the support from WIRED for this first-ever digital music petition. It is also amazing to get the support from talented musicians who are contributing to the Tck Tck Tck: Time for Climate Justice Campaign and specifically the Campaign track that we created along with Havas Worldwide."
