Within the framework of an experimentation for the French Navy, Orfidée">Orfidée showed the assets of Zigbee">Zigbee technology to locate crew members on a frigate of the Lafayette type.

To make safe the crew assigned to safety, the French navy asked the Orfidée company to validate Zigbee technology to locate crew members on several levels in the engine room, a place particularly confined.

Carried on the arm of sailors, discrete Zigbee cases communicate with Zigbee routers fixed at the walls of the boat. Orfidée rested on its Absysseo">Absysseo partner to provide the software of cartography.

In addition to the real time localization, the technological challenge consisted in adapting to the metal environment of the boat while ensuring the feedback wirelessly in a central room located at several levels and some watertight doors of the engine room.

The methodology and the development of specific algorithms showed that the solution could be easily adapted to various environments, in only a few stages.
